Bankruptcy Exemptions

Went BR a month ago (my OR interview is next week) but of course the bills keep coming in i.e. gas, electric, council tax etc.
I realise that going BR is not a licence to avoid all obligations but aren't sure what I can and can't include in my BR.
In particular what's the position regarding utility bills and council tax incurred after the date of my BR? I'm not deliberately burning electricity thinking I'm exempt from the bills.
What can I ignore and what must I pay?

nothing can be inclueded after your BR date.0
-
What about my gas and electric bills received yesterday 99% of which were incurred before my BR date.
Not being pedantic here, I genuinely don't know if these can ber included or not.0 -
you did say AFTER BR, but if before yes they can be inclueded but remember that you will most likely be put on a metre or have to pay a deposit to the gas/elec so you need to think if it's worth it?0

Thanks.
I'm already on meters and I'll be losing my flat anyway.

Ask the companies to re-bill you for the date up to your BR, which can be included, and another from your BR date onwards, which cannot be included.

Thanks.
That sounds about what would be the correct thing to do.0 -
Once you inform the companies of your br (+ date of it) they will normally calculate what you owe up to and this will be dealth with by the OR. Sometimes they will asign you a new account number for the bills going forth from br.
If you are already on meters, why have you got bills for the gas/elec too? if the meters are new then you will just continue as you would have paying as you go type thing, if you have a debt that has been put on the meters which you are paying x amount each week then that debt can be removed after br.0 -
Misunderstanding maybe on my part, I'm not on pay as you go meters.
What happens with my Council tax bill?0 -
council tax is calculated on a daily basis, what is due up to date of br, will be included. You will need to arrange with the council a payment plan for the balance of the finiancial year.0

jenni - are you sure about the council tax? That isn't my understanding of it. Not criticising but just wondering.
