Natwest - Time to valuation?

Myself and my partner had our offer accepted on a house a fortnight ago. We went into Natwest the next day and arranged the mortgage (we already had it in principle). We provided all necessary ID, payslips and account statements. We also instructed our solicitors (and filled in the forms) and gave all of the details to the estate agents. The problem is, Natwest still havent instructed for a valuation to be done!

Im getting very concerned we could lose our house. They've been absolutely useless and have already made a blunder in misreading my partners statements thinking that they were all for the same date?! (How could they be when they're all different!) That issue is now sorted (or so they say), but still no valuation.

How long does it usually take?

Thanks.

Hi there, with mine we applied over the phone on Tuesday 12th May - and they instructed the valuation on Thursday 21st May - so it was only 9 days.

I have been really neurotic and even though there havent been any problems I have still phoned them loads!

I would phone them straight away and ask what the current situation is. Dont be afraid to phone them - thats why they are there!

Good luck with it all - will keep my fingers crossed for you

It took ours just over a week to be done with Natwest.

However, we are buying a repossession we went through a branch mortgage advisor. She did a great job pressing for it to be done ASAP as we need to complete within 28 days.

If youve done it over the internet/phone then you may well have a bit of time to wait. Our advisor did say they had a large backlog to deal with :o

I finally managed to get in contact with our mortgage advisor today and she says I should have called their mortgage centre and arranged the payment for the valuation to go ahead. Im rather confused because she took my card details on the day we filled in the forms for this very purpose and we havent had any correspondence from her to say everything is ready to go! If Im honest she doesnt sound like she has a clue what shes doing!

Anyway its all arranged now and hopefully the valuation will take place next week. Ive contacted the estate agents to confirm this but it turns out the sellers solicitors havent pulled their finger out yet either so there was no danger of it going back on the market. Phew!

My valuation happened almost immediately after our AIP (from RBS). My adviser was properly on the case and did tell me call them to make the payment.
Don't assume it will be plain sailing from now as I am now stuck in RBS's nightmarish administration (see my other threads) and I still have no idea when or if they will ever make an offer!

Amazingly this isnt the end of this! I got a text message today from Natwest saying they couldnt proceed with the valuation as they hadnt recieved payment. I call them up and they said Id only paid £125 as opposed to the £275 fee. I take a look in my account and the full amount had indeed gone out last Friday so I called them back up and they said it was a mistake and the full lot had been taken!

Im dreading hearing from them as something has gone wrong in every single step of this so far. Just how hard is it to get it right!

Meanwhile still no valuation and its almost 3 weeks since I signed the forms!

Just a quick update, we exchanged on Monday and completed today. We were ready mid-June and had signed but their solicitor was messing about, much to their horror when we let them know.

All is well though, we are moving in tomorrow and very excited! :)
