Online shopping question

Would you use a service that you could tell which item you were looking for (ANY item) and your preferred price range and then a consultant would search the country online and off for the best price whilst arranging delivery for you, charging you a small fee and guaranteeing that the total is all within your price range or better???
Looking forward to your thoughts on this

There are already websites you can check the prices at various retailers to find the cheapest or best deal.
Such as www.find-DVD.co.uk for DVDs, also for CDs and Books. Then you have pricerunner, kelkoo for other items, and you can search eBay yourself and find the cheapest.
So why would you want to pay someone a fee when you can do it for Free?0 -

no ,half the fun of buying online for things is searching for the best price !This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I would not trust it- there is always a better price out their, it could be found via haggling, finding a nearly-new item or ebay which changes every minute. I would doubt very much any shop-bot could know where to look and find the best price for every item.
And if it charged me a fee, it wouldn't be the lowest price of that item anymore would it?0 -
There used to be a similar website. I haven't heard of it for a few years so maybe it died a death, but how it worked was:
- you found an item/price and you posted on the site the item/price
- anybody else on the site can then search for you to beat the price.
- if somebody beat your price and you bought the item, the finder would win a finders fee
I've often wondered what happened to that site but can never remember the name and I've not stumbled across it ever since I first looked (2003-2005)0 -
Just googling, I found this site for flights/fares: http://myfarefinders.com/
And a whole thread/discussion about the subject of finding the best price here:

And in that thread, I found this: http://www.haggle4me.com/ - this is the site I was trying to remember all that time... it's still registered, but a dead site... so obviously didn't do well.0
