    Hello,

I am also going to be doing an acess course starting in sep - to be a physiotherapist.

I have been on the case looking at what funding is available, Adult learning grant is £30 per week but you need to check your prev years earnings to qualify.

You can claim jsa as long as your studying less than 16hrs per week. If your partner works more than 24hrs per week you will only get contribution based jsa - which is for 26 weeks only. if your on jsa when you enroll you will only have to pay a small amount of the course fees, which can be paid in installments.

Look for a company called next step also connexions and get your self an interview with the access course tutor.

    Phill

Just to clarify a few points on this, and I speak as a Careers Adviser who was working for Nextstep.
    1. In many areas, Nextstep are completely separate from Connexions.
    2. The Access course tutor will be connected with neither.
    3. Many colleges will only waive your fees if you're on means tested benefits, not contributiions based JSA.
    4. If this is your first fulllevel 3 course you shouldn't have to pay fees at most colleges if you're under 25.
    5. You can't get ALG if you're claiming JSA.
    6. You won't be able to claim JSA if the course is full time unless you're prepared to give it up when/if you find a job.

Sorry to come over as rather dogmatic but it seemed easier to list the relevant points.

    Good luck with your course.
