Nothing beats the taste of homegrown veg - I managed to grow some salad leaves in a windowbox (I have a small balcony) and although there were only a few, they were nicer than the pre-packed stuff you get in the supermarket:D
I am after some tomato plants - my local hardware shop has told me that the cherry toms will be in next week so I will get a couple and they too can go in the windowbox. I had some last year 2 tired looking plants that were windburnt and reduced to £1 but they still managed to produce 2lb of fruit:j I am trying to be more self-sufficient too.
If you have a Home Bargains near you then that is a good place for cleaning stuff, or Wilkinsons (Wilkos). I admit that I go here, there and everywhere for my shopping.0 -

Your Gas and Electric is £100 per month? I live in a large 3 bed semi and mine is the same. Are you on the best deal you can get?

yes sadly gas and electric is £100 eek.. i've changed companies a few times over the years tbh im totally sick of changing it never seems to make that much difference my house isn't the most efficiant in the world im afraid heating it is a nightmare, and the boliers etc are old. however i have arranged for cavity wall insulation and loft insulation to be fitted for free sometime in the next few months so hopefully that will help. :T
I've thought about things like mystery shopper etc but i just don't have time, im working full time, have 2 kids and im currently "trying" to study there are only so many hours in the day...haha, im already finding the day a struggle im not sure i can fit anything else in.This months aim :- Stick to food Budget / find £100 for my car insuranceMay GC :- £250/£234.55 :T:A:TJune GC :- £150/£127.37:eek:0 -

Those energy efficency measure will make a difference.
The others are
thick curtains in winter - if you can draw them at dusk it makes a huge difference.
Energy saving lamp - save about £7-9 per lamp per year.
if you have stored hot water, then make sure the thermostat is set for 60 degrees and no higher. You need a screwdriver to alter it.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
At least read this http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/protect/make-money in case there is anythign you can do which would bring in £10-30 per month, or which would give you and the kids an extra at no cost.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
