Grr, i hate this time of year

Morning all,

I've been doing so well since christmas, i've really cut back and have been paying extra on my CC's.

But this is the time when my plan gets messed up - when the council tax bill and water rates come through. It has been so nice not having these extra payments per month.

£100 to the council is going to affect my overpayments to my CC but it has to be paid :(

I know what you mean - but thankfully it doesn't affect me much, as it's only the water bill. We pay the council tax over 12 months in my borough.

Hi glittermonkey i feel exactly the same, have done really well these last couple of months, had DS2 and OH birthday this month all paid cash!have not touched cc for 3 months, paid off next and taxed car :j
But not having to pay council tax for 2 months has been a big help, as of next month will have to start paying 120.00 per month
But i am determined to keep on track !!!
  • A friend of mine has just had her water bill through and they want to put her direct debit up from £32 to £91 a month!!!!!

She's on rates too which I don't understand. I thought they were set so this sort of thing couldn't happen. I am also on rates and mine's going up just £1 a month

My council tax bill this year has gone up by £60, so an extra £6 per month over the ten month period we have in my borough. Ok it doesn't affect me at all because I have no debts, but I can't see any improvements in the borough services. In fact, the rubbish is not being collected less frequently. Someone is lining their pockets somewhere...
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

    Financially, perhaps but...

It's now spring (yes honest) and we will soon be surrounded by beautiful flowers, trees and wildlife. OK, we lose an hour on Sunday but this means that the evenings will be lighter and we'll get the opportunity to enjoy outdoor life again.

Take time from your money worries to enjoy what's out there :D enjoy the beauty and you will become a more beautiful person yourself.

True! Yesterday was such a lovely day and I really cheered up and forgot about things. Went out in the garden and my pretty daffs were out :D

Just a tip but you can get your council bill changed to be over 12 months, I do this every year as its easier to budget for 12 months than 10 just call your council offices.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Tell me about the flipping council tax, I live in a 1 bed flat (bedroom, lounge, TINY kitchen and TINY bathroom........£941 per year (£94.18 per month!!) I do get the 25% single occupant discount which brings it down to £71 a month!! Its getting to a point where it is just not affordable. I can just about scrape it together for this year but am already dreading next year!!
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!
