It doesn't matter where you park in the city centre as it is very compact.
if you like Chinese there is an excellent buffet down by the water I think it is called city harbour or harbour lights or something.A coiuple of minutes walk from town and open all day and very reasonable.travelover0 -
As littlereddevil says the chinese on the quayside is great, it has always had a good selection when we've eaten there. If you prefer Indian food, The Taza buffet which is also on the quayside is very good reasonably priced and good selection.
There is also free parking at the quayside. The main car park at the back next to the river is up to 3 hrs free. The car park to the front by the main road is a pay and display but you get first 2hrs free.
I'm looking forward to your thread on Kirkcaldy, I'm looking at houses there at the moment.0 -

A good central place to park is the large multistory car park in Gellatly street. It's an easy walk from there up to the town centre, or down to the Quayside shopping or the retail park which houses TK MAxx, Matalan etc. There's also several pubs at the top of Gellatly Street (a Yates, and independant pubs) which do nice food.0

best thing about Kirkcaldy is the rejects shop and the langtoun mcc, not neccessarily in that order! I have been out in the evening there but have no recollection of the evening, whether I'd partaken too much of the falling down liquid or whether it really is that unmemorable I'm not sure! Its always cold no matter what the weathers like anywhere else as the har rolls in off the water with remarkable regularity.

We're in Glenrothes at the moment.
We're looking at quite a wide area mainly Perthshire, Kinross, and bits of Fife that are easily accessible through the road network. OH has a job which moves around a lot so because we don't know where he will be working, we really need an area with good road connections. Any suggestions?
I know Kirkcaldy to go shopping in, was a student at the college for a while and have had the odd night out there so I'm not totally ignorant of the place. I do have some concerns about moving there. I think it's quite rough, it appears to have a lot of dodgy estates. Also I was driving along the esplanade one lunchtime and saw some bloke getting his faced kicked in by a couple of blokes with some others looking on.
What is langtoun mcc?0 -
langtoun (ie Kirkcaldy) motorcycle club
Perth and Kinross all good areas for the road networks, but prices have been rising steadily due to commuters moving in to travel to Edinburgh, been a ripple effect, hitting Dunfermline first and moving up country0 -

I'm a white settler too, but have always found the natives friendly (excepting during the world cup lol!) my OH is Scottish0 -
Agree with Ickkle about Gellatly Street car park - by far and away the biggest spaces and easiest to park in for us not-so good parkers
My fave place for lunch has to be The Pheonix pub on the perth road (just past the big BOS building opposite Debenhams). Not sure if kids allowed in though - with kids there are 2 pubs just up from gellatly st car park on Seagate - I think one is Yates and there is another big one on the corner - they are both nice and spacious -and one allows kids and the other doesnt I think.
There is another chinese buffet place on whitehall st (jimmy cheungs?) and another restaurant next to it friends have been to and enjoyed.
Places to visit - Sensation is good for the kids (down near the train station) and never pay for the kids- the leaflets at the reception usually have kids free vouchers on them.
Discovery Point and Verdant Works are another 2 attractions and are covered by tesco clubcard (£2.50 clubcard vouchers give you £10 ).
Am sure the museum is closed for refurbishment which is a shame as it was good.
Perth Road/west port is student area and have a few nice little shops, and the two shopping entres and the murraygate cover most of the chain stores.
Off out so will have a think and add more if I can think of it
