Hello,
Any suggestions on the best place to buy a cheap stereo to go in my living room?
Not fussy on brands / amazing sound quality etc.
Thanks!

How cheap is cheap???
Without knowing your budget its difficult to make a recommendation. Richer Sounds are pretty good for prices and choice. They've got a JVC surround sound system which plays dvds/cds- with 5 speakers and a subwoofer for £79-99 seems good value.
If thats too much try places like Asda - they have own brand mini systems for about £25.

I agree, for JVC that seems like good value.
I got my stereo system from a carboot sale. It was £30 + £10 for the speakers. It is a big black eighties Kenwood stacker with cd player, radio, graphic equaliser and record player. It's a big lump but the sound quality is really excellent. If I spent the same money on a new stereo I'd get a crummy tinny Hitachi or Alba type thing. I think if you want to spend under £50 you're best buying second hand.
I know you say you're not bothered about amazing sound quality but the quality of some of the cheap brands is really terrible. Sony, Panasonic, Kenwood, JVC and Technics are good. Matsui, Hitachi, Alba and Goodmans are all dire.0 -
