Ex Not Paying Morgage

Options
Posting this on behalf of a friend. Hopefully you lovely people can help her out?

My Friend got a morgage with her then boyfriend, Few months leter they split up. She Moved out and he continues to live there with his new Gf. When she moved out he said he wanted to continue living there and he'd continue paying the morgage.

This was almost a yr ago.. It Now Turns out that he hasn't paid the morgage since about January. The bank have tried phoneing and writing to him but can't get hold of him. They have since started contacting her despite her not living there for over a year now.

Her and her ex don't speak at all and she wants totally out his life.

Were does she stand and whats her best course of action?

Cheers in Advance :)

She is wholly liable for the mortgage as is her ex.

Her credit rating is being destroyed. If it ends in repossession she could end up unable to get a mortgage until 2021.

She needs a solicitor - about a year ago.

Ideal solution: Get the house sold. If there's negative equity she is liable for that too.

You need to explain to her that she's just as liable for the mortgage as she was when she lived there. She's won't be totally out of his life til her name's off the mortgage - she definitely needs a solicitor right now!

Thanks for all your help people :) She has an appointment at CAB on Friday, But told her to make sure she see's a lawyer, I presume CAB can recommend some lawyers who specialise in this sort of thing?

Once she see's a lawyer whats likely to happen next?

    Thanks,
    Craig
