I'm a doofus...

Hey - I am new to the forums and thought a couple of months back, that I had made an excellent saving on a brand new ipod.

I heard via Facebook, that an old "acquaintance" from another forum was selling a brand new ipod touch and so after a brief chat via PM, I transferred £100 to his bank account.

Needless to say the ipod never turned up....

He refused to answer any emails etc, and the Police were not interested in a case which I thought was criminal in that he had obtained monied by false pretences.

Can anyone advise how I would be able to reclaim my money ?

Thanks - and you can all call me gullible and stoopid - cos I am.

Any emails? Chat logs? What did the police say?
  • Yeah - I have the chat logs etc - but the Police just said that it is a civil matter and I should chase through the courts.

    BUT....

...the Courts require an address do they not ?

I do have the guys bank account number and sort code tho....

have you tried googling them or www.192.com

(if you google their sort code it will give you the bank address which will indicate the area they live)

do you know anyone who lives close to this person? Could you plaster it all over the said forum that this person is a scummy git who steals money? kick up enough fuss and you might find someone else who is in the same situation with this person who can help.

send a letter to them via the bank??? If you put a note in to say that you have an old address the banks will normally send them on...worth a try.
