The secret to the pain is to keep your foot above the level of your waist for 50 mins out of every hour. Prop your leg up in bed at night. It's swelling that makes the pain so bad.

I often loosen straps on boot at night slightly to allow a bit more room.

Last surgery I had an aircast boot which came with stretchy socks that fit over bandage , so I kept those to use with boot this time.

I have it up most of the time, but have to keep moving it up and down every few minutes as any longer in the same position hurts. I seem to get more relief when it's down on the floor for a bit, but i'm sure that's not helping. Aaaah! :(
I've had it resting on 2 pillows at night and it seems to work as i've been able to fall asleep. I won't take the boot off at night as worry that if my leg does move, I may do more damage.

I could probably find something to go over it, but to be honest I will take it off to clean my leg, so that's not such an issue. The end is open though, so when I am out and about, I will try and find something to cover the end to keep dirt etc. out.
