How long does it take to get one Air Mile onto account?

I have about 3,600 air miles on a dormant account and have had the letter from them about losing the miles if I don't use them by 30th June. I know what I want to spend them on but I object to the £30 charge they are going to make to redeem them if I don't earn any new miles. So I've been trying really hard to earn a mile or two, but you wouldn't believe the amount of time it seems to take for a mile to actually be credited to your account.
I started by getting a Shell Driver's club card and bought enough petrol to earn one mile. This was in March and I was under the impression that the mile would transfer from Shell to Air Miles at the end of the quarter ie 31st March. When that didn't happen I contacted them and was told it would not be transferred until the end of the next quarter - ie 30th June - and of course that is too late to make the deadline.
A month ago went to the Air Miles eStore for iTunes and bought an album, which again would earn me one air mile. After a couple of weeks this then showed as 'pending' but still hasn't been added to my account yet - how long is it going to be pending for??
I am beginning to think that Air Miles are deliberately creating all these delays in order to force people into either paying the £30 or losing their miles.
Has anyone else had experience of this or know a way to get the miles on there quicker?
