I owed my bank £7,300, overdraft, loan and visa card, and was struggling to pay the £300 a month i had to pay. Then my OH lost his job and things really came down on me. But with all the advice i had learned from this site i knew just what to do. I wrote each department a letter offering a minimul payment of what i could afford, then i went to the CAB, they said i was doing everything right, then when the bank next rang and obvoiusly they rejected my offers of payment, because it was nothing like what they wanted. I stuck to my guns and said that is all i can pay, They then offered me a managed loan paying £93 a month on 12% APR, i said i could'nt afford it ( if it had'nt been for this site giving me confidence i would have agreed to it). The woman said, i will talk to my superviser and ring you back. She rang back and offered me a managed loan of £7100, paying back £49 a month on 0% interest and £200 of bank charges refunded. It will take 12 years to pay back but i can pay it off early if i have the money. I am so relieved and wish to thank the members on this site, for giving me the confidence to stick to my guns and not have agreed to nothing i could'nt afford. And even better my OH got a job the day after.

Well done for sticking to your guns, I probably would have accepted the loan too, thinking they were offering the best they could do. It's unbelievable that even though you wrote to them saying you could afford no more than £xxx they still tried to rip you off with a loan at 12%APR.
I'm only just beginning to see how heartless companies can actually be.A photographer see's with one eye closed what others fail to see with both eyes open.0
