Egg - The rotters! (no pun intended)

I've just called them to cancel the payment protection that I had (£34 a month) and requested a confirmation on my apr's.
The balance I transferred in March is at 0.% but the balance I already had on there is 15.9%.
So taking advice from everyone here I asked if that could be dropped down at all...........they said *insert family fortunes buzzer here* no.
I would transfer the balance elsewhere but Halifax want £89 to move it to them!

I thought Halifax-1 waas capped at £50, with 0 % for 12m?Don't waste your words I don't need,
Anything from you.
I don't care where you've been or,
What you plan to do.0 -
And you know what your paying off the stuff at 0% first.
Unfortunately this is how the things work.
Any chance of getting another 0% card or even a 'life of balance' card just for this purpose.
I'd keep the egg one open though cos they do that anaversary 0% offer don't they so you could use that again when it comes up.
sorry i couldn't be of more help

Thanks Kar.
I'm just into my anniversary 0%, won't have another one for 12 months!
I already have a halifax card so the best they could do was 6.9% but with £89 charge to move it - not usre if worth it.
I applied for capitol one in December & was refused. I don't actually know why, the only thing I can think of is cos I moved last year so equifax may not have linked to my old address yet. That or the mortgage is having a negative affect.
Actually, that is a though, when my mortgage was set up, the mortgage company did not set up the DD correctly & my first 2 payments to them were later. I called them as soon as I got the letter the first time & paid over the phone, and 2nd time I kept an eye on my account & saw the money not going out so called them again and paid over the phone.
Would this be showing on my credit file?0 -
worth checking online as its free. experian and equifax too i believe. Also make sure your on the electoral role as this affects your credit rating too.

Here's the article you need:
Martin's Credit Rating Article
And you need the section titled:
Sneakily and speedily get the info online for free
Hope that helps.
Also its worth considering how much interest you would pay in 12 months if you kept it with egg - will that transfer costing £89 save you interest if you can't get credit elsewhere??Current Mortgage - £156,633:eek:Expecting baby no. one on 27th Oct 20100
