How do I cut repayments in the short-term?

hello - what great postings. Just a couple of thoughts I had while reading, hope you don't mind.
first, you say that your joint account has £1000 in it - is this extra and 'spare' so to speak? If so, that's another £1k towards the wedding or towards a debt surely?
food bills are high - try having a plan and a list before heading into teh supermarket - helps focus the mind.
try the cash technique - leave your cards at home and just take cash. you can only spend what you have in your hand. I find that this helped me realise just where my money was going and now helps me ask whether i really need something or not. Give it a go.
i agree the cleaner should go - if you do work long hours then there should be less cleaning needed ????
split the chores between you and you will be surprised. A quick wipe over the kitchen/bathroom surfaces while other hoovers takes about 5-10 mins. Could one do the ironing while the other cooks the dinner - both in the litchen using the time to chat about your day etc etc. time saving and spending time together. Just an idea.
HTH and good luck
