Kilkenny Irish beer

Options
Hi,

Does anybody know if any of the big supermarkets sell Kilkenny Irish beer? I had a quick look in Tesco yesterday, but couldn't find any...

Alternatively, can anyone recommend a similar kind of beer to Kilkenny?
I have never drunk it myself, but my brother who is coming to visit from abroad loves it... from what I understand, its quite a creamy beer (Guiness-like??)

Thanks a lot!

    hiya
i used to love kilkenny. not seen it around for ages, but to be honest, haven't looked either. if you can't find any kilkenny, you could always try murphys red or caffereys. they are both similar, and very nice. however, you have awoken the kilkenny wish now! i will have to have a look around to grab myself some! if you find any, let me know and i will you!

Caffrey's is very like Kilkenny, neither of which are as dark as Guinness.

Wikipedia suggests that it's like Smithwicks, so that's also an alternative

Thanks a lot for all the replies!

I picked up some Caffreys from Sainsbury's yesterday...
Obviously i can't compare it to Kilkenny as never drank that before, but Caffreys is very tasty indeed!

Will have to ask my brother how it compares to Kilkenny.
