Hi there, yet another question in the quest to make a little money to help with the bills and look after my kids at the same time does anyone fill envelopes and get paid for it, is there a company that does exactly what it says on the tin or are they all out to scam, I've been burnt a couple of times
I really don't mind working hard any ideas I would be really grateful thanks lyns

Hi Lyns again...
Yes and no.
Yes, I have in the past been paid for envelope stuffing. However, this was through an established employment agency sending me out on a temping assignment for a couple of days to the offices of a legal consultancy firm, who were doing a huge mail shot to their clients. Boring & tedious, but a bit of a laugh with the other guys there!
If you mean the adverts you see posted up round and about.... THIS WILL BE A SCAM, AND YOU WILL GET BURNED! You'll be expected to find your own leads, mail the envelopes out to these addresses, drumming up more business for those at the top of the pyramid, and you'll only see a miniscule slice of any business you bring in. Again, you'll be asked to pay a large joining fee up front.
Most firms will have machinery for stuffing letters into envelopes and addressing them. Or they'll contract out to another firm that offers this service. Otherwise they'll phone up a temping agency & get a dogsbody like me to be envelope stuffer for the day!
It sounds like you have kids, so office temping work may be out of the question for you if they're small... can you find out if you can get help with child care to get you back into work. You might be able to get most of your costs paid.
Otherwise check out some of the threads on here for established work at home companies such as Avon, Body Shop, mystery shopping etc.
Can you sell some stuff on Ebay? Sell some tomato seedlings at car boot sales? Are you crafty/ creative.... make stuff to sell on Etsy.... you only have to pay a small listing or sales fee. Check out the 'start a cottage industry' thread on these boards, there's some cool ideas on there for generating extra income independently. Sit down & do a brain storming list of things you could do now, or new skills you could learn quickly, maybe dog walking, gardening or ironing.

Start an Access or Open University course.... should be (nearly) free if you're on a low income and by the time your kids are a bit older you'll be qualified for a professional occupation like nursing/ physio/ teaching/ I.T. etc. :j
