Found out last week my partner is expecting, she's 22 Im 24 and have been together 4 years, both living at home with parents.
We now have to fly the nest and get out own place, I've been looking at renting but it seems so expensive. So im thinking about buying.
I've had some credit problems in the past, but now have a debt managament plan that I have been paying into for the last 3 months, I have a decent income, however I have just checked my credit score on experian and im 403! (very poor). My partner has also had problems in the past but between us we earn good money. Our credit though isn't so good. Neither of us have had CCJ's just missed payments and 2 defaults.
There are some new build houses round the corner from where we both live and they are promoting a deal where they pay 30% of the mortgage, (as long as it's over 100k).
My question I suppose is would we have any chance of getting a mortgage with the credit problems we have had in the past? Or could anyone offer any advice?
Thanks

You want to see a whole of market broker. Obviously, you are aware with a adverse credit you are looking at vastly higher interest rates, if you can get one at all. You will also need a deposit. Have you savings?Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08
