It is 15k, so you should be paying back 9% of the 2k you are earning over the 15k.0

2. And Since I didnt pay anything last year, but earned 16k, will they ask for the full years payment for last year do you think?
1. Yes, that is correct.
2. Technically, you owe them £90 for last year. I've heard that they don't chase back payments on your type of loan (they do on the pre-98 loans), but I couldn't say that for certain. I've also heard several people saying that they've tried and failed to persuade anyone to start taking the payments. The SLC, HMRC and their employer all say they need to speak to one of the others. My girlfriend is in the same position and we've decided not to chase them. This probably isn't the morally correct thing to do, but since she's phone-phobic, chasing them over the phone is extremely daunting. (She may change jobs soon, which might kick-start the payments anyway.)
You seem to be in good company - the SLC/HMRC seem to be pretty awful at administering repayments and a lot of people are not paying when they should be.
Incidentally, if you were paying it, it would be costing you about £15 per month, so it might not be anything to be too scared about. I guess that depends how tight your finances really are.0 -

Worth noting that you actually pay 9% of monthly income over 1250 per month.
Although that's equivalent to 15,000 per annum, if your income varies a lot the deduction is based on the monthly total and not the yearly total i.e. like NI rather than tax.
You will need to contact the SLC who will tell the HMRC who will then tell your employers to start deductions.0 -

My student loan company was taken over last year and they made an admin error and didn't take payment from me for one month, now theyare hounding me with calls regarding this, where do I stand as this is their error, not mine and I don't know why I should make the payment.
Do I have to and can they black list me?0
