Question About PPI?

Currently gradually working my way through my incomings/outgoings and trying to find ways to save money as currently more going out than coming in

I decided to review my loans and where possible get the PPI taken off as I get sick pay and my work has a no redundancy policy. Hubby was made redundant a few years back and when he tried to claim on his biggest loan it was a HUGE big carry-on and we ended up just paying it ourselves anyway. So although he possibly would have more need for it than me, we decided to try and cancel his too (can always restart it when things are easier).

He has just phoned Household Bank (previously HFC) who he has 2 loans with and asked about getting this taken off and they told him they couldn't do it without him refinancing his loans as it was all added at the start (thought they all were anyway  ). He's just had a phone call back from them to say they can re-jig his loans and he'll save a whopping £1 per month - eh?

Has anyone got any idea why this is? He's had one loan for years and kept topping it up, last top up was about 14 months ago monthly payment £302 and the other loan is only 3 months old, monthly payment £87
