Tax refund - no p60

in Cutting tax
Just after a bit of help. Tried calling the tax office but they did not help much.
I was made redundant in December and did not commence work again until the very end of March. For my new job I did not get paid until then end of April, so I have had no P60 for last year. I was paying full tax before so obviously have a bit to claim back. Anyone know the best way to go about finding how much I can get and how to do it?
Cheers

You wont have a P60 because you were not earning at 5 April. I assume you didnt claim JSA because if you did, the benefit office should have made your refund at the end of the tax year.
You wont have a P45 either as you will have given it to your new employer. All you have to do is write to your new tax office telling them you were unemployed and not claiming between Dec and Mar and were not paid by your new employer until after 6/4/09 and ask them to deal with your refund. You should really have claimed this once you had been out of work for a month.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -
Thanks. i was hoping to be back in work sooner. I was on ESA for a bit as i had an operation then JSA for about 10 days. This finished though before April 5th.
I will write to the tax office and see what I get back.0 -
Do you not have the P45 Part 1 from your previous employment. It does say at the top that it is your copy to keep? If you don't you can always ask that employer to give you a statement of earnings which you can then send to HMRC.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
