    p.s. where's the party after ;):)

For me, it will probably be the St John Ambulance tent, or the local A & E :D

Both these say children welcome but i fancy jumping on a bus and going to Roundhay park, where there looks to be tons to do....

Still in Roundhay Park, though deep at its centre, is the Lakeside (pictured above). This very popular place has been totally refurbished as of January 2005, and with longer opening hours now (10am-5pm all week), it’s the perfect place to eat, drink, relax and maybe just while away the hours. Light and airy, full of smart light leathered upholstery, and now with a very smart licensed bar, it offers a limited but decent cross section of wines (£2.55/£10.95), while on draught there’s Foster’s (£1.15/£2.30) and John Smith’s Extra Smooth (£1.15/£2.30). The quality here has gone up another level. It all looks great, and has a slight Italian look and feel to it now. Something to do with the Italian chef perhaps? The Lakeside serves up freshly made dishes, with a special effort on children’s meals. Their Childrens Box consists of Ham, Cheese or Jam Sandwich with Yoghurt and Crisps (£3.75), bowl of Ice Cream (£1.90), and all children’s meals come with a soft drink. Plenty of high chairs here. There’s a Children’s Meal Deal too (£3.75), consisting of Fish Fingers and veg and potatoes, or Sausage and veg and potatoes, or Beans on Toast. Plenty for all those kids to choose form then. And for the choosy grown-ups, there’s a choice of hot food or a deli counter. The deli offers Bagels with a choice of Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese (£4.25), or Chicken & Bacon (£3.75), or Sweet & Chilli Beef (£3.95). Hot food comes in the form of Soup of The Day (£3.50), Bruschetta (£4.95), Roast Loin of Pork (£6.95), Beef Lasagne (£5.95) and Chicken wrapped in Bacon with Mushroom & Garlic Cream Sauce (£7.95). Plus a range of fillings for Jacket Potatoes too. It has a wonderful balcony view of the boating lake, where the kids can spy ducks and swans, or stay fascinated watching the boaters in the summer – a pastime that is thankfully coming back after the lake has been refurbished. Take a stroll around the lake or park, listen to bands in their stands, or just muck around on the grassy slopes and under the trees. It’s an urban paradise that seems a million miles from the city, complete with municipal golf course, and a program of summer concerts and events.

It says you can get a bus from the city centre...... 3 miles out of town.

Prices look cheap enough and there will be loads of room for kids to mill about...

    Any thoughts? Major objections?

So we'll do the run, get showered changed etc, all supporters can just chillax/hangout in the hotels in everyones bedrooms, while the runners get ready, then everyone jump on the bus to Roundhay park for a DFW day out??

should be at the park by 12?

    and numpty - i don't do butterflies.... <shudder>

Maybe those who want to carry on into the evening, i.e. those without kids, can retreat to Weatherspoons (as per normal DFW tradition) for the evening sitting!

can you not bring DS too then?

If he was to hang out with the kids and babysitters? then you'd not need to hurry home?

it's no good if you're not gonna be there....

Even if you came to Roundhay for an hour or so...

    any other ideas?

No hun, DS wont come. He likes his time with his dad.

Just having a chat to DH, and he says as long as I'm back home in time for him leaving for work at 9, he's OK with it. He'll go to bed as usual, and DS will xbox or watch TV. Maybe I need to check train times :D
