hi all,

I've always had a good credit rating and had credit thrown at me in the past.
last year i was with BG for my gas&elec, i paid £50 pm DD and this was coving the gas&elec....without written or verbal warning they upped my DD to £95 and this was taken out causing me to go overdrawn and sending other DD back as unpaid (ie i hadn't budgeted for this) I rang them straight away as was fuming, they told me they didn't have to tell me they were upping the DD and didn't seem to care. They acknowledged they didn't know why they had done it as both gas & elec were up to date £25 over gas & £50 over for elec....hardly in arrears. They appologised and removed the payment but i was so angry i left them. I obvioulsy had this £75 outstanding, i was in constant communication with them and was willingt to pay it but due to the fact it was there fault i left them we mutually agreed to pay in back in small amounts and agreed, over the phone, small monthly payments which when sent out in writing and with payment card were wrong!!! I rang thenm expalining i wouldnt pay it wasn't what we agreed and we went through it again, and they sent out another copy, only for it to be wrong again!
during this time we were in communication and spoke to several managers about the sitaution and at no time refuesed to pay.
They have defualted me for both these payments £25 and £50 so is showing as 2 seperate DEFUALTS and ruined my CR. I cannot get a mortgage or a CC. I have since paid all my Debts off so other than my mortgage have no outstanding credit.
Is there any way i can chalenge these defualts and British Gas?? or have the next 6 years of my life been ruined??

I can't get a new bank account and been refused mortgages. i'm looking at a new car but scared i'll be refused credit!
For the first time in my life, i have no debts (paid them all off) have a well paid job and have 10k in savings and for a £70 default am completely stuck!

Thanks in advance for reading and any advice offered xx

They have yo give you notice of any change in DD payments. You need to make a formal complaint as a starter.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

yes i thought this too but is it now too late? I complained verbally at the time and hence why i cancelled my agreement with them...

can i still make a complaint now, even though the account is settled?

Also if anyone could help me compile a letter or what to put in it it would be greatly appreciated
