Hi, I am hoping someone might be able to help.
We are looking to get a mortgage as ftb's. My husband is the only wage earner (I am a housewife) and has a perfect credit history :A . I on the other hand have one default
on a credit card that was in my name alone .
My question is does my name have to go on the mortgage if I will not be financially contributing to it, and will I need to go through a credit check as well as him or can we use just his credit score to get the mortgage in his name?
Thanks

If the mortgage is in joint names then the credit search will be on you both. If the mortgage is in his name only the credit search will be against his name only.
There are lenders that could ignore your default depending on how long ago it was, the reason and the amount.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
