The tax code on the P45 supplied to them is 647L and it was for the 2009/10 tax year.

I have tried to get in touch with them but haven't had much success so far.

Are they not picking up or refusing to speak to you?
Do they actually have anyone to do the payroll? Or is it some one man band type of thing where they don't really know what they are actually doing?

They employ an answerservice where by you speak to a human but they simply pass on messages.

From what I can gather, they used an accountant to run the payroll before they employed my predecessor so I'm not sure whether they will do it themselves or go back to using the accountants.

If I do get my payslip/P45 and the balance of monies all well and good but I have a feeling that its going to go all pear shaped........apparently they paid one of their guys too much last month and instead of correcting the mistake, they simply told my predecessor to alter the pay until it reflected the amount paid.

What would happen if I don't get a P45 ? Is there any time frame to issue one? I know when I was doing payroll I found it easier to issue the P45 with the last payslip as you know then everything is done and the employee doesn't get lumbered with being put on emergency tax.

    If you don't have a P45, you fill in a P46.

When HMRC realise your previous employer hasn't supplied a P45, they will chase for one.
