Getting a sewing machine serviced

I think our sewing machine is in need of a service (bought it 4yrs ago and have never had one done :o).

Does anyone know roughly how much it should cost and where to find someone trustworthy?

    I asked at our local sewing machine shop the other day (as I've had my machine for several years and not had it serviced) and it is about £45 for a sewing machine or overlocker. It's a lot but if you've got a decent machine it is worth it. Do you have a sewing machine shop nearby? They'll either do it or know someone who can.

    my local place used to do a £5 checkover then additional costs were according to what repairs were needed.
    August grocery challenge: £50
    Spent so far: £37.40 :A

    My nearest sewing shop (30mins away in Maidenhead) has quoted me £63.25 and a two-week turnaround. Seems an awful lot considering it's not broken or anything. Hmm... might put it off a while!

    I have a sewing machine thats over 20yrs old and its never been serviced. Ever so often i`ll clean it, oil it etc .If its working ok , leave it.My motto is why fix something thats not broken lol
