Howdy all in MSE land....
I need some cheap or even better FREE ideas for my party please. I'm having a Soiree theme so everyone is dressing up. So far I've thought about getting bog standard cava and plastic flutes for a "champagne reception" but I need some other food and drink ideas to keep the night as costless as possible.
Also any fun games without being childish or twee (spin the bottle is OUT) and any other things people can suggest?
Very grateful!! Cheers my dears!!

Depends how big your garden is - but any one of rounders, croquet or cricket is usually quite fun games wise
If you have a BBQ - get people to bring a dish/meat each, or do cucumber sandwiches etc picnic style (i.e. small), mix your cava with OJ perhaps...

Oh yes we will be having a barbie as well and it will be bring your own!
Not sure about the ball games as the garden is only really about 20 square foot but definately could have mini games!
Any recipes for canapes? I don't want to buy them they're far too expensive and I'm happy to get creative in the kitchen!End of 2010 I was £8,007.66 in debt

Bit of smoked salmon on a small square of buttered rye bread, with a bit of lemon juice and maybe some smoked paprika on top. Really good, but maybe a bit expensive.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

Hi Ebbs,
Not been to too many garden parties - the last barbie I had we played jenga, so what about some board games, or karaoke, ha! As for food, if it's bring your own you could maybe get some mini desserts and stuff from Farmfoods - do you have Farmfoods down South?! Or Iceland. Sorry not much help - hope the weather is good in July!0 -
I like to make rice crispie cakes and marshmallow one for my friends (partly because I cant bake) and I alwys find some veggie sushi goes well for parties (doesnt go off and you can make it the day before), all you need is:
sushi rice, sushi vinegar, seaweed, cucumber, carrots, tofu, eggs, wasabi and soy and if you're feeling brave you can pick up some salmon and do a few fish ones0 -
Have you tried the MoneySavingOldStyle board - I'm sure they'll be able to think of party food on a budget? dfMaking my money go further with MSE :j

hi
for outdoor lightin when it gets darker how about collecting some jam jars/coloured glass pots and put telights in them, they look lovely:D
Also get a giant Jenga think they're around £15 but sure you can probably get cheaper with all the summer deals. They're great fun, especially if you've all had a drink as hands tend not to be so steady;)
With food...not got much to suggest really except huge bowl of salad and lots of sauces for everyone:D
Hope you have fun planning1.11.09 - debt = £45k:eek:
