Tesco - double up reward vouchers promo - a scam?

Don't know if this is the right thread. I have a collection of Tesco Reward vouchers dating back a couple of years but all still in date, as they stay valid for a long time once issued. Like thousands of others, I have recently been sent details of the "double up your vouchers in store" offer and thought I would use mine to buy some wine.
I went round to my local mega Tesco and marched up to the Double Your Rewards kiosk to exchange my Reward vouchers for the doubled up value. "Sorry those aren't valid". "What do you mean?". "Only Reward vouchers issued from this month (May) are valid." But I haven't been sent any this month". "You will receive them in the next four weeks". The man behind me was also told his voucher was not valid as it was not issued in the 4 weeks.
I have re-read all the publicity information and all the details on the Tesco website and I can find nothing that says the offer only applies to Reward vouchers issued this month and not to earlier issued vouchers.
Have I missed something?

Have a look at any of the reciepts where you have used your clubcard, the vouchers you have so far earned are on the bottom
When they go back down to zero or a few hundred this means they have sent out your vouchers and they are in the post. If you have notice your receipts show the clubcard points have gone down and you have not had your mailing, give them a phone call. It could be they were stolen, or you ticked all the boxes and asked them never to conact you and so wont send you any vouchers- doubt this is the case, so call up and check they are not lost in the post!0 -
I have used old cc vouchers to double up on in store. I think your store is talking ballcocks.0

My store have taken my old vouchers and exchanged for 'double up' with no problems.
The only issue I have with the new scheme is that they only take the vouchers in multiples of £5.00. Fair enough any points left over are added back to your account, but in future why don't they only issue vouchers in multiples of £5.00? I don't see why it would be that difficult to double up any value! :rolleyes:0 -
Mine have taken my old vouchers no problem. But it was annoying that I had a £30 voucher and only wanted £20 doubling up but they said they couldn't do that, I had to double up the whole amount. I told them the leaflet said any remaining points would be added back but she said that was only if it wasn't in multiples of £5. ie a voucher for £12.50, £10 would be doubled up and the £2.50 added backThere will always be:
A “LIE” in BELIEVE, an “OVER” in LOVER, an “END” in FRIEND, an “US” in TRUST , and an “IF” in LIFE

Frecce, I think that is more store ballcocks. If you exchange them online for either x4 deals or double up you can get change of any amount. The double up are multiples of £5 and the 4x deals are multiples of £2.50.0

Yes, both this info told to freccle and the codswallop told to the OP are rubbish. I wish Tesco would train their staff better!
Of course you can use a £30 voucher to pay for £20 in Double Up vouchers, the system should automatically add the unused £10 back to your cc account as 'change'. Just the same as it would do if you used your £30 voucher to buy online Deals. If they had tried instore they would have seen it happen on the system, with their own eyes (no clever input by the store staff needed!).
And usignuolo, I would suggest you go back in and say you've checked with HO (always say that, even if you haven't...) and the store is wrong! Just like others have already reported here, I also used a voucher which was over a year old, to Double Up for wine vouchers last week. There's nothing to say they have to be recent vouchers, any in-date ones will do (up to 2 years old).
It is a recent new promotion of course, maybe that's where your store has become confused? Someone needs to put them right as some retraining is in order I think.:rotfl:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I can't help but think that tesco have yet again introduced a new policy/scheme without it being thought through properly and again not giving staff enough training on it and also allow the store to introduce their own take on how they think the scheme should run, just like their DtD policy and their coupon policy !0

spoke to tesco customer services in dundee today who confirmed my store are talking rubbish. My OH says maybe it is accidental on purpose as too many vouchers might impact on their sales targets/totals for the week - but he is a cynic. The Customer Services said they will ring store and tell them. I will try and exchange vouchers again later this week.0
