I have now seen several discount days/events and similar happening all on thursday the 28th, I thought I would list what I knew and would encourage others to add similar:

Bodyshop: 20% off everything for Love Your Body card holders

Ted Baker: several London stores (and possibly more?) are holding events- I saw the number in a newspaper but no longer have this, but maybe you could ask instore? its free drink(s?) and 20% off items bought.

House of Fraiser are holding an event this thursday- 20 or 25% off (think its upto 25% but not 100% sure on this)

Canary Wharf are holding a shopping event, offers are generally 20% off everything but Myla have 40% off and Choice have 30% off. Other stores include Rober Dyas, Karen Millen, Gap, Dune, Kate Kuba (20% off exept Uggs which are 15% off). Full store listing is at www.mycanarywharf.com

Selfridges London (and possibly other Selfridges??) have a beauty event that evening, the full info is in Grazia mag which I will update when I get home later (unless someone else beats me to it!)

OK, the Selfridge's event in the Grazia mag says

"the first 100 people who present this page" (n/b, the new mag comes out every Tuesday so you'll need last weeks mag) present it at...

At the Illamasqua counter at 6pm, get a highly pigmented powder eyeshadow worth £14.

And the offer of winning £4000 worth of luxury gifts.

Apparently they are also offering free sparkling pink rose, free makeovers and Grazia magazine will be there taking pictures for the magazine. Not been to one of these events before but heard from someone they do give away samples and things during the night and also with purchases.
