Very important issue for life after bankruptcy

There was a thread which got a bit out of hand the other day, so I'd like to re-highlight the issue minus the controversy.
I am not bankrupt, have never been, but because someone who lives with me is a discharged bankrupt I am forced to declare it for the rest of our lives when I am insuring the house. This increases the premium, or in some cases means some insurers simply won't quote.
It is fundamentally unfair to penalise a person in this manner.
I agree with the thread at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=21786943#post21786943.
If you agree with this thread also, please 'thank' the highlighted post and hopefully we can build momentum for a campaign that bankruptcy can be 'spent' after a certain duration (my view is six years, in line with the time it takes to come off a credit report), then legally a person does not have to declare they have ever been bankrupt.
This change will affect thousands and stop the lifelong discrimination a discharged bankrupt and their family faces for life.

I agree also.
As I understand it for there is also the BRU/BRO for the small minority who are reckless or dishonest. They can last for up to 15 years and no one is disputing that they need to remain in place for that long.BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500 -
Bump!
Is it wrong of me to bump a thread that recommends you vote for my post in another thread? Probably but it's all in a good cause!0 -
Anyone else?
