We've cancelled our wedding ......

Well, actually, we've cancelled the April 2010 wedding and we're now getting married in 8 weeks!!!!!

We had a long hard think about things and have decided to have a regisrty office wedding at 4pm and then on for a meal with about 30 immediate family and extremely close friends.

We're going to ask the reception hotel if they will allow us to transfer our £300 deposit over to the meal but appreciate they may say no. If this is the case we'll just find somewhere else to have it but don't know where yet!

Our budget for next year was getting larger and larger and we were running out of corners to cut!

The best thing is that FIL2B is giving us £1000 towards it and it will cover the cost of the whole day :D

We're only having 2 witnesses (my sis and OH's brother) and I'll be having a simple dress and buying my sister a dress that she can wear again.

We are so happy about our decision and feel that a huge weight has been lifted. We were also trying for another baby which we had to postpone until after the wedding but now we can start trying again as we don't have to put our lives on hold for the next year.

I haven't told my BM's yet but we have told our relatives. Everyone is delighted for us apart from my mum but I hope she'll come round. I told her it was our day, not her's and we were doing it the way we wanted to.

We're off to Ireland on holiday the weekend after the wedding with OH's family so it gives us some time away afterwards as well and with all the money we are saving we can have a lovely honeymoon at some point towards the end of the year.

Thank you all for listening and sorry if I'm boring you!!!

Definately having an MSE wedding now :D

You know where I am if you want me!!
But, it sounds like you are now doing it your way because you want to rather than the way it is expected of you.
Anything I can do, please ask! xx

Thank you Linda! This is exactly what we're doing! I can think of a million other things to spend the money on. The only thing we want is to get married and we're doing this with minimal fuss and no stress!

Thank you aswell Aimee, I'd like to add my new date which will be 21st July 2009! Eeek!

Good for you, we did something similar when we got married 5 years ago. Both the mothers were getting carried away and it all got so stressfull, we ended up getting married on Christmas Eve with immediate family and two very good friends-best decision we ever made! We really wanted to get married by not all the fuss and expense.

    Good luck xxxx

    Wow - Congratulations!

I can sympathise with the ever expanding budget, as the cost of ours has increased already.

Your going to be busy getting everything organised, have you got your dress yet?

Keep us updated with all your new plans :)

Congratulations! As long as you're both happy - that's the main thing, I'm sure your Mum will come round x

I'm really pleased that you two are doing it your way, rather than pleasing anyone else :D
