Downloading TomTom maps

I'd like to download tomtom software, but can anyone please tell me how to do this. My satnav is using turbodog V5, but according to the instructions, I can load tomtom software instead. I'm not familiar with any techie stuff, but if it's a simple task, I'd like to try it. And I prsume I can load it on a different SD card so I don't lose my existing maps in case something goes wrong!!

You most certainly can - and it will be a vast improvement on the truly atrocious Turbodog! Google is your friend - just search for "the pc tailor". You will need to register to access the help forum, which is also where the downloads are.
