I wanna buy a female-specific sleeping bag & 30L back-pack

Hello everyone!
I'm a keen hillwalker and camper, and my current bag and back-pack have come to the end of their very long lives. I've checked out various walking / trekking magazines and websites, but would dearly love some practical advice from anyone out there on what gear to buy. It's all very well being dazzled by the latest specs, but I'd like to know what other folk have bought, where they bought it from, and whether it actually did what it was supposed to!
I'm after a female-specific synthetic sleeping bag, 3/4 season, light (say 1.2kg or less). I'm 5ft 8", which rules out most male bags (185cm / 190cm) and some womens (168cm). Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced practical bag?
I'm also after a female-specific day back-pack, 25-30L. Something light (1kg or less - a tall order, I know) that can be used for 2-3 day treks and wildcamping. I've tried mens packs, but the straps on most of them dig in to the old boobies (unpleasant) and they don't have enough hip padding. Any suggestions?
Many thanks

Hi there, I'm a Scout leader & we camp out every other weekend (or at least thats how it feels!
), in fact we were away this weekend, had a great time! Anyway, back on topic.... lol I have a Vango Nitestar sleeping bag, its a mummy style bag. I'm 5'7" & a size 18 & theres LOADS of room left in it! There's wee pockets inside it and everything! Its not female specific though (not quite sure what you mean by this?). I bought mine from The Scout Shop, but try the Vango website: http://www.vango.co.uk/products/sleepbaginfo.aspx?productid=52&modelid=24&id=7 they've got them in different colours, sizes & togs. They're well worth the money, I've had mine a couple of years now & used it camping in the Scottish Glens in February!!! lol For your rucksack, I know what you mean about the boob thing! lol My local tesco is selling some decent ones just now, you could try checking there, but your best bet is to go to Millets or Blacks or somewhere like that & try them on till you get one that feels comfy. Good luck!! .•

Thanks Scottish Lass - great suggestions! I'll look at the Vango website and see what they've got! Oddly enough. my very first bag was a Vango, so perhaps it's fate!
