ah right...whoops......ah well, it wasn't a problem to re-set everything to be honest, but I'll know for the future.

Must have been WELL dirty to have completely stopped it from working at all! (They usually just get hot and shut down, not stop alltogether):idea:0 -

Glad you're sorted- I mess about overclocking my pc and if I put a setting too far often get blue screens -they are never fatal "bsod"- and sometimes I have to re-set the cmos or my pc behaves like yours -first time I thought I'd killed it!
I haven't had a problem yet with touching the battery and the shorting pins aren't always that near to the battery. If I'd told you to stick a screwdriver between two bits on your motherboard I don't think you would have , but this is quickest for me!0 -
