contact the bank and explain the situation....the money isn't yours0

Phone the bank and ask who paid it in, if they wont tell you ask for a statement. If it turns out the moneys not yours stick it in a high interest account till the bank ask for it back!!Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!0

Yes, phone the bank - it's not yours (probably!) and they have a right to take it back without warning.0

Thing is, they don't have to ask they'll just take it. So if it's going to make you overdrawn if they reverse it and you've moved it to a savings account, don't do this!0 -
There are loads of threads on this from recent weeks.
You need to notify the bank that a mistake has been made. Don't expect anyone to make any sense but at least you have reported it. What you must not do is remove it from your account, either into another account or even worse, spend it. You know it is not your money and some members here have reported that incorrect transactions credited to their accounts have been taken back without notice. It could be some time before it is corrected which means you need to control your account carefully. If you are worried about it, you can try keeping on at them to sort it out but others here have found their bank in denial for some time.
Some have said they were contacted and asked to authorise a reverse from their account but if it was me I wouldn't take the chance of them just taking it back.0 -
Have you got access to online banking are there any numbers on the payments to give you a clue who they are from?National insurance numbers normally indicate a benefit payment..0
