Calling all ladies who have bought a Landy Dress!!

Ladies,

I am just about to place an order for my wedding dress but I am now worried that although David at Landy has said he can make it I am worried it won't look like the dress I want. Has anybody found this with dresses they have ordered? that they are not identical to the pcitures? I realise there will be small differences or am I worrying for nothing? oh and has anybody ordered the Allure 8506 dress?? they have said they have made it before but they havent got pictures of it :(

    And how it turned out:

It won't be exactly like the original, and the material quality isn't the same as they have to save the cost. But for a nice dress it's OK

There are going to be differences. Many of the top designer ones are made from 100% Duchess satin which retails about £30-£40 per meter so taking into account some styles want about 6 meters, you'll be looking at £180+ for fabric alone.
Many don't come with built in pettis either and there have been known to have variations in fabric designs because many bridal makers have indipendant suppliers of fabric which aren't available to trade or general public. They will however be very similar if not the same as style so if you know it aint gonna be exaclt as it is on the tin, you won't be disappointed.

  • I asked for the top bit near the bust to be straight rather than being a 'm' shape. I didn't ask for the colour (I actually wanted red, but chose the wrong colour off the internet swatch, so if you want any colour other than the whites/ivories please order the swatch!).

I knew full well that I wasn't paying designer price, so I didn't expect a designer dress. But what I got was a lovely dress that people really liked. It made my day when just the two of us walked over to the park with our friend (aka photographer) to take pictures and people in the street said it looked lovely, and a man stopped his car and wound the window down to say I looked beautiful. I bet none of them would have known it only cost £200. And that's what matters. Not whether or not it's like the original, because Average Joe won't know.

Linda that is soo true :)

Tedious thanks the dress I want is straight on the bust and I was worried that they would do it heart shaped etc. Other than that your dress looks pretty much identical and soooo original for a wedding. Hope your day was everything you hoped it would be :) and thanks for your help it has helped me make my mind up :)
