Hello all
OH and I bought a house in April 09, there were tennants in before we moved in as the house had been up for sale for a while so the seller got tennants in
We have received about 6 letters from brighthouse (name on the envleope I havent opened them) for the tennant (I presume as I didnt know her name) and we have returned them not at this address
We are still getting letters from Brighthouse
Will this ever stop? is there anything we can do to get the message across that that person is no longer living there?

Never, ever ring them, send them following letter keep a copy, any further problems from them, come back and post

Dear Sir/Madam
Account no:
You have contacted me/us regarding the account with the above reference number, which you claim is owed by myself.
I would point out that I have no knowledge of any such debt being owed to (insert company name).
I am familiar with the Office of Fair Trading Debt Collection Guidance which states that it unfair to send demands for payment to an individual when it is uncertain that they are the debtor in question.
I would also point out that the OFT say under the Guidance that it is unfair to pursue third parties for payment when they are not liable. In not ceasing collection activity whilst investigating a reasonably queried or disputed debt you are using deceptive/and or unfair methods.
Furthermore ignoring and/or disregarding claims that debts have been settled or are disputed and continuing to make unjustified demands for payment amounts to physical/psychological harassment.
I would ask that no further contact be made concerning the above account unless you can provide evidence as to my liability for the debt in question.
I await your written confirmation that this matter is now closed.
Otherwise I will have no option but to make a complaint to the trading standards department and consider informing the OFT of your actions.
I look forward to your reply.

10 past 6 - your letter seems to be going off on a tangent for no reason!!!
as good as this letter is its of no use, plead read the original post.
the debts are in somone else's name - so that mail as far as i am concerned is junk ... and has no effect on their credit rating... most companies would stop when phoned as they would have systems in place to verify who the homeowners are if they were to ring in etc etc0 -
Yeah 10past thanks for the template letter
But the letters I have received are not for me. They are for the old tenants who lived here over 3 months ago.
I just wanted to make sure Brighthouse realised that that person doesnt live here anymore and doenst keep sending letters here cos that person is not here anymoreDebt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

i had the same problems with bright house i just sent them a nicely worded letter(and a few other company's too) stating i understood they were doing their job sending the letters but considering the current economic climate i would assume they would like to know they are chasing a dead end at this address. i still get the occasional letter as i think by law they need to send them.every so often to the last known address but at least its not every other day.slowly going nuts at the world:T0

Lol 10 past 6 went off on one then ha ha!
Just keep sending em all back not at this address. Its all automated which means you will keep getting crap in return but eventually a human will read one of those letters and tell the machine to stop churning em out.
Happens with all debt agencies. All on autopilot you just have to be patient and hopefully the letter box is on your way to work/dog walk route etc.2 Weeks In Spain! Benitachell Villas Yay :j0 -

he/she sure has hell has.....
i have read the letter and TBH it doesnt warrant fiddling with the letter as you have suggested.
i never said the letter was trash, just in my opinion not needed in this case. nevertheless, i have saved your template, i am sure it will come in handy....
to calm you down, i have thanked you for the original post..
