Job Application questions.

Hi all,
Can anyone help me in understanding this questions and how to answer them?

1) Experience of using data in an educational setting.
2) Ability to provide advanced statistical analysis on large data sets.
3) Aptitude for further developing IT skills and implementing software procedures.
4) An understanding of how large organisations use statistics and other data to assess performance.
5) Experience of presenting data analysis to different audiences in a clear and understandable format.

so far my understanding of number 3, is I need to write something like,,.. I always seek to develop my IT skills by reviewing text books and magazines. and explain something about boot disk creation procedure..

for number 4, for example, i understand that large organisations use microsoft excel and access to input the daily figures of all staff, and create a graph based on that their productivity is formed..and so on..

for number 5, I presented my idea of creating forums for our internal employee communication in a clear format.,, and so on..

am i correct? please correct me. thanks.

Yes, this is the way to tackle this. Give examples throughout, don't just say 'I have experience....' without givng an example.

You do not seem to understand the questions. For instance, question 5 asks for experience of presenting data analysis. You then refer to a means of data collection (did you mean forums or forms?).

The questions are pretty straightforward. If you do not even understand them, how do you intend to fulfil the role requirements?

#1 really depends on your experience

#2 you might want to look up OLAP cubes and data mining (not generally well understood so people think its advanced) or at least some statistical methods like varience, regression, component analysis, factor/cluster analysis, correlation. just pick up a book on statistics at the liberary.

#3 try to give an example of a new skill you've learned above your normal remit preferably a skill you've used to create a new data processing procedure, any random computer procedure with no relevance to the job is pointless, and besides no one makes boots disks anymore.

#4 they dont want to know about data is created and presented they want to know how its USED, preferably infering q1, but mainly relating to skills you've mentioned in q2.

#5 you need to talk about data analysis specificly, and you cant just say repeat the question you need to exactly how you presented the data and how you catered for differnt audiences. (ie public/line managers/MD,CEOs etc) or indeed differnt versions for differnt groups.

If you are out of your depth this isn't the best job to try and blag...
