Does anyone know if CBT is available on the NHS?

Yes, but currently long waiting lists in many areas. There's a plan to recruit another (???) 2,000 counsellors I think - but that ain't going to happen overnight.

See what your GP says - but in the meantime, resist the temptation to "self diagnose" ;)

Carmen Queasy. I can sympathise, I was in a similar state about a year ago - couldn't cut my hours because we needed the money.....Actually, my family made it very clear they needed me in a stable mind set more than we needed that money. As a result I was able to cut my hours and build back up gradually, with support from an employer I really didn't expect. After 6 months, I was so much better, I was actually able to go back to working full time again. It made all the difference.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

basically I feel very low and have turned to self injuring
    CQx

You should not be in the workplace as you are putting not only yourself, but others at risk too.I know this sounds a bit harsh but what if you do something to self-injure than causes serious injury to a work colleague ? The safety of others in the workplace comes before your money problems.

You have my sympathies OP and I hope you get the help you need soon. I'm sure your doctor will be okay about it if you explain the situation to him, so please don't let it put you off getting the help you need. I've told a doctor I didn't wish to be signed off a few years ago when he suggested it to me, and he just told me to come back and see him if the situation changed.
Why not find out about ESA,SSP, Mortgage holidays and any other benefits so you can make a proper decision
It might also be worth speaking to the CAB to see if you are entitled to any benefits or financial help. My OH and I are in a similar financial situation ourselves and are currently waiting to hear about mortgage and council tax benefits.
Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice. :(

If you are signed off by your doctor you cannot go into work. Their liability insurance doesn't cover you when you are off sick. At least this was the case when I was signed off and I think the doctor pointed it out.

You worry about making mistakes so much you can't focus on getting things right. Worrying about mistakes makes your brain think about mistakes all the more. So your mind focusses on mistakes so you make a few more. Which makes you anxious and stressed so you make more mistakes, so you feel less confident so you make more mistakes and the circle tightens. CBT would definitely help. If you can't get access to a trained therapist then check out 'Feeling Good, The New Mood Therapy' by David Burns on Amazon. This a brilliant book for overcoming negative thinking.

You have just said that the worst mistake you could make is accidentally short change someone. That isn't a huge disaster is it? Most people notice if you give them the wrong change. If you just smile and say sorry and 'what am I like today' or 'I think I need new glasses' most people will just forgive you if you rectify it. Lots of people pay by card these days so I really wouldn't worry :)

Try and focus on all the things you do right which there will be many.
