P11D Benefit in Kind - tax code query

Hi,

I got my P11D statement since taking a base rate staff mortgage which gives a figure of £1946 for the last year. Will the Tax Office reduce my tax code automatically by this amount? I got a statement last year for around £300 but my code did not change.

Anyone else have one of these?

Thanks,

David

HMRC did not collect the tax due on your loan for 07-08 becasue the tax due was below their threshold of £100. However, you will receive a demand for 08-09 for the tax n £1946 and they will also amend this year's code number to collect the tax due on this year's loan. I would imagine they will collect the tax due for 08-09 through your 2010/11 code number.

Thanks for the response. As long as it is all done through the codes and a demand notice does not appear through the letterbox.

They don't make it easy (as well as keeping the official rate at 6.25% for far too long although it was still well worth it)
