Gift for a civil ceremony?

I need to find a suitable gift for friends that are tying the knot in a couple of weeks time.
They have lived together for over 20years and I've had almost a year to find a gift .................... and haven't!
They are great fun and I'd like something original for them (not towels & sheets).
They haven't a gift list or advice for charity donations.
They don't drink, did think of a case of Champagne with personalised labels.
I did ask them but they said they just wanted our company on the day
Any suggestions?
Thanks
LL

It sounds like they genuinely do just want your company on the day!

If you really want to get them something how about some vouchers for a shop you they will use?

Depends on your budget but how about something they will enjoy doing together. A salsa lesson, an intimate meal. Paintball. A photo shoot? Something fun and quirky??

How about getting a caricature of the two of them together? I've recommended this guy before http://www.christophermurphy.co.uk because I used him to do a portrait of my dad as a birthday present and was really impressed with the style (fun but not insulting iykwim).

When I got mine done I just emailed the guy with a couple of photos and a bit of information about hobbies etc and he was able to incorporate it all into the drawing. My dad loved it and it was a really unique, quirky kind of gift.

Along the same lines you could maybe get something done with a photo, a canvas maybe?

I also know a couple who recently got married where a few friends clubbed together (as it was quite expensive) and booked a hot air balloon ride for them to go on after their honeymoon - I know I'd be impressed if someone did this for me! :D Not good if your scared of heights though!

How about making them some fimo figurines (like the ones on cake topper thread)? Or could you get them a picture or a piece of photography of something that is important them e.g. where they met or a favourite place or something?

Some kind of hamper (see hamper threads on the main special occasion forum) - perhaps some kind of picnic theme?

    A boat trip?

It is difficult without knowing the people and how much you want to spend. Someone got our friends a performance by a pair of fire eaters!

I wonder, if they are very good friends could you do a kind of powerpoint and set it to music? My son (when he lived with his dad) did this for mothers day with loads of photos. I cried buckets! Such a personal thing that can be looked at over and over again.
