Great reply.
I can safely say I have a better understanding of your thinking and a better feel of your overall situation.
Save like hell. Maximise the benefits of the sharesave plans, budget to the saved value, not the potential share price value (although utilise that for short term profit when they mature).
Then once you've got the money in the bank get the builders in!
(I made a hell of a lot of money out of sharesave schemes, but made the mistake of leaving a chunk of the cash in single company shares ... the credit crunch took back a chunk of the gains I'd made! Lesson to learn - if you don't spend it all, diversify your portfolio!).0 -
Thanks - onwards & upwards it is then
Thanks for the tips on the shares too I have been budgetting on the saved not potential share price so anything over 4k is a bonus but must admit I havn't given any thought to the options that I have when each scheme matures - I was planning on simply taking it all in cash and dumping it into our ISA's - I'll have to have a look into it and see if there is anything better I can do with it until we're ready to spend it.
Cheers - off to get some goodies for the bbq now
