Docking station for MP3 player - will it connect?

I'm looking to buy a docking station for an MP3 player. The MP3 player is like a flashdrive, with the USB port on the end (under the lid) and I need to make sure it will connect ok. I noticed that alot of the docking stations say they will take Ipods & MP3's - but do they mean this type? I keep reading but i'm really not sure.
I was looking at the Creative brands,or for something similar. It must be capable of mains powering. Its for a child to put in a bedroom (9 years old) it wont be carried about anywhere.
Thanks in advance for all advice/help/suggestions/recommendations!!!!!!!!!!
