DD is picking up her cakes from M&S on Monday, but she has told me that her FIL has ordered a medium and large cake only. They seem very small to me and I think they might look lost. They are only 15.5cm and 22.5cm or 6" and 8.5"
Has anyone else ordered these sizes and what were they like.

I am picking up my medium and large cakes on Monday as well!
I have tried appropriate cake board sizes on my cake stand and they seem fine (I am having the bottom layer with fairy cakes for all the kids to make the cake seem larger)Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Thanks Louise, I might give that a try. I hadnt really looked at the sizes before, but I thought she was getting the bigger one. There is around 60 coming to reception and another 25 or so at night so we are going to have to get another cake for cutting.0

According to M&S the large cake can to 54 portions & medium 24 portions so that should be just enough cake for the day people, might be worth getting a cutting bar they do 22 portions. Oh just thought don't you normally do the cake at the evening do, if it's for almost 85 the 2 cakes at 78 portions really might be cutting it fine. I'm sure not every single person will wan't cake bur it'd be awful if there wasn't enough to go round.Booo!!!0

Thats what I was thinking, if the cake ran out before everyone had been offered. (OH and sons could probably eat top layer by themselves, lol) Will definitely get a cutting bar or birthday cake instore or fairy cakes as well.0

I would go with the cutting bar, lots of extra portions, and not such a large price tag!
I was going to get 2 tiers, and then make up the rest with cutting bars.
However, I have made fairy cakes instead, and have got a top tier from Waitrose, and have added decorations to match the fairy cakes.
I wanted a chocolate cake and M&S dont do plain basic chocolate cakes. Anyhow, the Waitrose cake was £15 and they delivered it to my house.0 -
I have managed to get the local baker to supply a sponge cake for the bottom layer and hired a cake stand from him as well. The biggest shock though was the cakes were ordered in ivory  so he is changing the icing on the other two.0
