ive worked at a company for 4 years, they have just sacked my brother and now i think its my turn, what signs can I tell this is happening because im scared, my supervisor constantly asks me to do meanial jobs, and as line leader in a factory I do have to offer suggestions which she is saying is not doing as im told im constantly in the office being told off, yet i consider myself the hardest working employee, most are temps so i have the most experience. I even got promoted a year ago, and im wanted on nights by another supervisor who isnt like my currrent supervisor who has come in 6 omnths ago and to be fair she wants to make her mark!
However, almost a year ago i was sacked for gross misconduct for swearing at a supervisor, BUT there were circumstances involving miscarriages, doctors etc, and the company were found to not follow procedure so I was reinstated on a final written, knowing this i have had had to try to calm down which i feel i have, but i just feel before the year probation ends they now want to get rid of me, and any slight disagreement will be deemed as not following managament instructions.
Yesterday I was asked to change some print cartridges, but my experience made me question it as I thought it would last the day out as its colour coded for this reason. It didnt and a few batches didnt have any labels printed, yes I hold my hand up, the batch was caught and rectified thus no harm done.
Then today i was aked tofill in a statement of the incident, i was not told why i had to do this, but i suspect i will have a disciplinary regarding it, as i was told they have seeked advice from MENTOR on the issue which they will be charged for, so because they got it wrong before they will pay to get it right.
I feel i just made an error in judgement, but also feel im going to get hammered for it. I really dont know what to do at the moment im dreading it if i do get sacked!

You really just need to learn to do as you are asked.
With the printer, you should have questioned it if you wished to with the person who told you to change the cartridge at the time of being asked to do it - not just made up your own mind and not carry the task out. The batch was caught and rectified, but this added extra work and the risk that it wouldnt be rectified. You have just put yourself into the situation of 'not following management instructions'. You may escape a disciplinary on this occasion, but you really need to wake up and smell the coffee, or you will not be so lucky next time.0 -
it was raised at the time to be fair0

If I were you I would ask for a meeting with your supervisor tomorrow and say the reason you took the decision was that you felt it would last the day and therefore save the company money. You need to hold your hands up to it and apologise and that this will never happen again.
Be proactive about the situation and explain that you value the job, value the relationship with your supervisor and will be giving everything 100% effort in the future.
The choice is yours ultimately in terms of how much you want the job. Only you know how close you are to being potentially sacked.
Maybe tonight have a think about how improvements can be made within the organisation and note these down. Think how you can help with some of these improvements. Is there something you can do that will help things run more smoothly - perhaps offer to do some of these when you speak with your supervisor. I think being proactive and showing commitment may be the key.
Good luck.0 -

As stated already, you need to do as you are told.
Work isn't a democracy, although some think it is.
You may well be right in thinking they are trying to get shot of you because of your previous 'escape' from the sack before (by technicality).
I see two things that leap out from your opening post:
1. You appear to hold your own ability in very high regard. If people senior to you dont agree, which seems the case, then maybe you aren't as good as you think.
2. I wouldnt blame your seniors there if they are tring to push you out. Not only are you not fulfilling things that are requested of you, but you also have a track record of causing trouble (swearing at your supervisor).
I know you dont want to hear it, but you only have yourself to blame for the predicament you are in.0 -
its my wife sorry, she is only 2-3 surviving members from 4 years ago, has had promotion within that time and is wanted on nights by another supervisor, i think with regards to working that speaks for itself0

Right letter through reason as follows
"Failing to maintain satisfactory levels of quality standards"
ill post statement later but it seems she was told to change a ribbon on a machine that prints labels, she didnt as she knew being experienced that the line would stop and the machine would beep and alert to the fact it needs changing. My wife explained that while the ribbon is on yellow it usually will last a shift. My wife was also training a new starter and was trying to do a number of things at once. The way her supervisor has worded the events, she said is so way off the mark making her look aggresive. My wife is compiling her lengthy re-worked statement.
She will also get several statements from employees of her daily conduct, work ethic etc. A key one being the Senior supervisor who constantly asks her to go on nights as she is the most productive worker in the company.
If it helps the previous 'Gross misconduct case which is why she is on a final written warning is here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1118077&highlight=sacked
Even the senior supervisor disagrees with the way my wife is treated by her current supervisor, but he is nights so cant really affect anything.
I basically boils down to the mrs getting fired for making an error of judgement based on her experience!0 -
In my experience if your wife's gut instinct is telling her that something is not right and they are trying to facilitate her exit then she's probably right.
I suggest she keeps a running log book detailing all incidents incl. date and time, this will assist her if she needs to raise a grievance at a later stage as memory tends to fade.
Hope this helps!0 -
just going through the policies and procedures and handbook, and what the compnay constitute gross misconduct, we have found over a dozen incidents in the last half hour where other employees have done what is classed as gross misconduct yet nothing happened.0

Like?
Gross Misconduct is very serious and consitutes things like stealing, abuse, fraud, violence. A company would find it very hard to function with all it's staff commiting these offenses. Unless of course you have an over zelous policy which could possibly be challenged."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0
