When I was doing up my flat to sell it last year, I was in the same dilemma. I needed a radiator cover but struggled to find one in a large enough size. the custom made ones were far too expensive as I was leaving it in the flat.

I finally managed to find the right size cover in MDF from Costco. It was pretty cheap in comparison with B&Q, Homebase etc, and once I'd painted it it looked great.

Last week I was in Costco, and noticed the same covers (various sizes) at the same price but with oak effect veneer. I didn't take a close look but they looked pretty good.

Certainly worth trying if you are struggling (and there is a Costco in the area).

You can get them in argos pg 1008 they come in 2 sizes, B&Q ,Homebase, also sell thm or if your radiator is very big you can buy the individual parts there and make them up

  • Not necessarily the cheapest but I can recommend https://www.jali.co.uk always featured in the house mags etc.

Download the online designer tool, have a play and see what the cost is.

have also bought made to measure furniture from them and nothing but praise.

Costco don't sell online and you will need to be a member or know someone who is.

The ones they sell are identical to the ones sold in B&Q. I should know as I bought them in B&Q only to later find them cheaper in Costco . They were good quality and sturdy but not quite as easy to put together as they suggest. I did quite a bit of shopping around at the time (but obviously not in Costco!) and B&Q were quite competitive.

Could you not have a go at making them? You can have MDF cut to size and buy the fretwork and glue it on? The frames were quite basic and looked easy enough to cobble together if you're good at that kind of thing. ;)

I bought one in Netto last week for £20. They had two sizes then but it doesn't appear on their website now, you may be lucky to find a shop that still has some - at that price it's worth calling in on the off chance.

My husband came home with one from Wickes but I dont know how much it was - sorry.

He also looked at one at Selco, but as with Costco, you would need to be a member.

Also found this at Screwfix - there are other sizes too I think.

    Happy hunting!

Just a quick note to any of you fitting these to radiators with thermostatic controls on them. According to my plumber (who I spoke to about this last week, the thermostat in the controller requires a fresh flow of air, if you put a box round the radiator it may impede the flow and give a false high temp reading leading to the radiator turning itself off.
