Selling Concert Tickets

I want to attend some concerts this year. The tickets for the gigs I want to go to are announced months ahead and I'm not sure which dates my work schedule will allow me to attend. I was thinking of buying tickets accross several dates and then selling the tickets to the concerts I cannot get to closer to the time.
A couple of questions:
1. Is it legal to resell tickets?
2. What is the best way of doing this?
3. What are the potential pitfalls?
Thanks

HI,
over the past few years I have both bought and sold tickets ... on ebay.
I know there is a lot of discussion on the web about the morality of this but without it I would never have seen the White Stripes at Shepherds Bush and it also allowed me to sell my glastonbury 2003 tickets when I ended up with a spare pair due to mates dropping out.
I'd get a feel for what the market will accept by way of standards (delivery etc) and price but personally i dont have a problem with it unless yr a tout and buying up 100's of tickets to make a killing.
Check ebay & other auction sites but be prepared for a bit of flak cassionally from peeps who just think it's wrong.
If you are thick skinned and honest I think you'll be ok
Best of luck :cool:0 -
I don't mind people selling tickets, as long as they use buy it now and just get the money they paid for the tickets back. It annoys me when I see tickets that have maybe only cost £50 for the pair, but just because they are front row, someone thinks they have the right to put the starting price at double or treble that.
Just as long as you don't buy loads - i.e give the impression you are a ticket tout - you should be fine.Blood donations to date: 10 | Type: O negative[/B][/CENTER]0 -
Thanks........
I don't really have an interest in doing it to make a profit. In fact I think that it harms real fans. However I have a very unpredictable work schedule and with the long lead times I was thinking that it might be best to buy across several dates so that I have a chance of making at least one concert!
I think that the ethical way of reselling them is probably to post a message on the bands fansites and get people to pm you. Then sell them for face value plus costs.0 -
If you want to sell the tickets for face value i'd suggest Scarlet Mist the moral and ethical way to sell unwanted tickets.Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.0

they keep saying ticket touts are charging to much,,
but who are the promoters kidding
they charge more for the seats at the front for most gigs so they are talking crap when they say its real fans that are missing out cos of touts , when real fans cant afford 150.00 a ticket for the stones/madonna
if u goto a venue and touts are outside they are selling tickets for face vaue most of the time or less,
and the promoters are prepaid to sell you a ticket but if u cant go they wont give you a refund and say you cant sell ticket on so your going to lose your money ,,,,,thats the biggest joke of allVal0
