leveller2911 doesn't know whether house prices will go up or down in the next 3-5 years any more than they know the lottery numbers for next weekend.

The facts are that house prices HAVE risen for the past 6 months in the UK.

leveller2911 does not own a crystal ball. The kind of crystal ball that would be required to come on a forum such as this and offer such definitive financial advice.

No one should really be predicting an entirely uncertain future with such certainty like that on here.

It is very very risky and potentially very very harmful.

Last time I logged in this was a forum (def: A medium for open discussion and debate) .........As far as Im aware this is still a free country where opinions are still allowed.......

My "opinion" is in my post and is just that an opinion.........Pray tell how that is "potentially harmful" ?????

FACT: house prices have risen in CERTAIN areas of the country in the last 6 months....Your taking the average. So your telling me that in areas of increasing unemployment house prices are rising and will continue to do so?

Good points Borker - there is a dedicated discussion board to Debate house prices, where leveller and his likes have their views ripped to pieces on a regular basis.

It really is not on to open debates on house price movements in a forum where it doesn't apply.
  • Stay at home with your mum (put up with her!!) and don't rush into it, too many people are desperate to get on teh property ladder, what's the rush??!! Get as big a deposit as possible and find the right house, too many first time buyers buy the wrong property as they are keen to buy something quickly, the right property will come up, just take your time and get that deposit bigger!

    Good luck
Totally without prejudice! All views are those of the individual and at no time should be constituted as advice.

My daughter was also turned down for the Lend a Hand scheme even though she looked excellent on paper. The adviser also expressed surprise at the computer rejection and could not offer a reason for the rejection. They came back with a 65% LTV, which obviously was not of interest to us.

I did wonder whether it was because we weren't existing customers, but I also wonder who actually does get accepted! Not heard of anyone yet, just read about the scheme in the press.

My daughter got her first time buyer mortgage with The Post Office in the end, who were excellent in their dealings throughout.
