Hi all i wanna buy an ID card, just incase i get asked ID as theyr upping the age to 25
i dont drive and dont wanna carry my passport around!
does anyone know where i could get a decent cheap one from
ive looked at 'citizencard' and theyr £12 which is a bit steep
i know the government ones will be alot dearer in comparison but are there any cheaper ones

have you thought about just photocopying your passport and birth cert? i am 32 and a non driver and still get asked for id sometimes, so i always keep a copy of both in my bag so i can still get my much needed bottle of wine!0

I imagine most of the places that actually have a Think 21/25 policy are strict as to what ID they can accept.
There are some grey areas, e.g. in training we were told not to accept foreign passports and driving licenses, but supervisors on the shop floor usually OK it because they haven't done training in god knows how long. However photocopied ID is a definite no. And what good is a birth certificate?
Also we cannot accept National ID Cards, which I assume are different to the ID cards that have only just started being rolled out, considering we were trained on this in November.
Check out all of the cards here
e.g. £100 -
I personally would not accept a photocopy of a passport etc as ID - normally the photos do not come out wellWhat is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

well, i suppose it depends where you are. but having both has usually worked for me - the birth cert backs up the passport(you have to have both) - but mine does have a very clear photo (clear colour copy) and its obviously me! still handy to have while you wait for proper id! (plus at my age i refuse to buy a proove your age card!)0

You could check with your local council & see if they do one, I know ours does & it only costs about £5..•

Why don't you just get a provisional driving licence, even though you don't intend to drive? It's an 'official' form of ID that's pretty much accepted everywhere (for the purposes of buying age restricted products anyway) and slips easily into your wallet.0

because they cost £48!0

i thought about provisional licence too but thought they would prob cost alotI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0

somerfield used to do one look on their website, not sure what it covers though! It's free too.0

http://www.somerfield.co.uk/services/citizencard/index.asp
Under 18s free, adults £7
This is weird because Citizencard's website says it's £12. Is this a deal with Somerfield or is their website out of date?0
