Preowned Wii/consoles, any good?

I'm getting a wii for my daughters b'day and was wondering whether it was worth getting a preowned one, either through game or cex, or anywhere similar.
Has anyone purchased a preowned console, was it ok or were there any probs?
I'm just thinking of getting a preowned one so i could get more stuff with it for less cost (extra remote, wii fit, docking station?) but didn't know whether it was worth the risk.
Any info greatly appriecated, I'm saving up but not quite there yet, I have til August

You cannot apply a sweeping standard to call pre owned Wii consoles, because by definition each one is individual in terms of how much it has been used and how much care the first owner took of it.
You can take some comfort in the fact that a high street retailer will generally over a one year's warranty with the product in case of any faults. The Sale of Goods Act would still cover you, but as you know that you're buying a second hand console getting protection from it after that initial year could be a problem.
In general the risk of buying a second hand console will be low. If it has a fault with it, that fault will generally make itself known within the first year. You should also be able to inspect the console before buying it to make sure that it is aesthetically presentable.
In short, you should be fine, and if finances are sufficiently tight, I would recommend buying pre owned."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? IF WORD GETS OUT THATI'M MISSING FIVE HUNDRED GIRLS WILL KILL THEMSELVES."0
